Reminiscing and an update

Reminiscing and an update

I just received an update from my manufacturer letting me know that our new clothing labels are ready, which means we’ll have two new pieces in the shop very soon. For some reason it made me nostalgic for our first ‘micro collection’ that we launched back in 2013.

Life update: business, mothering, Austin

Life update: business, mothering, Austin

It's almost been six years since we moved to the US and a lot has changed. We originally moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and now live in Austin, Texas. I've dialed down how often I work on Popbasic not necessarily out of choice, but because being a mother to Van is full on. He's a very chilled out toddler, but a toddler none the less. We have no family here to help me out, and Coen works six days a week. Van has now started at preschool for a few hours everyday, which has given me the freedom to work on Popbasic and have some downtime throughout the week to get back to being creative.

Introducing our Lola Dress

Introducing our Lola Dress

When I launched our Rubi collection back in 2013, it was so popular that it quickly became our fastest selling collection. Little did I know that it would take me half a decade to release it in another color way. Better late than never, right?! I'm so happy to finally release our Lola dress, the updated version of our basic grey marl dress. It's a classic black with the prettiest rose gold zip.

Relaunch Day: February 1st

Relaunch Day: February 1st

I can't believe that we're relaunching Popbasic this Thursday. It's been a very long time in the works. I'm so so thrilled to be working on Popbasic again, and I want to thank you for your patience.

Motherhood and business

Motherhood and business

I'm the kind of person that tends to throw myself into one thing, and focus on that to the detriment of everything else. Balance is not really my strong point. So when I found out I was pregnant, coupled with the unfortunate business failings that I had just gone through (literally three days before I found out I was pregnant), I took it as a sign to step back for a bit, and focus on my baby.

Popbasic 2.0: Our logo reveal

Popbasic 2.0: Our logo reveal

One of the first things I wanted to change when I started planning for our relaunch, was our logo. Coen created our original logo back in 2012, with the intention of designing something that was fun, but ultimately unfashionable. That might sound super strange but we wanted something that set us apart from all the typical startup logos.

Favorite Podcasts

I've become an avid listener of podcasts! Luckily for me podcasts really took off around the time Van was born, and I had so many to choose from when I was nursing him for hours on end. Now that he's older, I'll often pop a podcast on while I'm cooking dinner or while he's playing independently during the afternoons.

I always love reading about new podcasts, so I thought I'd share my favorites.

DOING: Sitting in Peets trying to get a myriad of things done for Popbasic's relaunch. I forgot just how much went into our launches, phew. I have an almond chai latte next to me and a shiny new Macbook on my lap, so we're good to go!

A letter to our Popsters

A letter to our Popsters

Hello Popsters, long time no chat to say the very least! Where have I been you may ask? Well, to put it simply I have been looking after my baby Van for the last year and a half, and it’s been wonderful and tiring, and hasn’t left much time for tending to my first baby, Popbasic.

Le Breton 2.0

Le Breton 2.0

Our Le Bretons are hands down our most popular and sought after item. I worked hard to create a piece that was simple, yet stylish for everyday wear. I have close to ten on rotation in my wardrobe and they have served me well over the years. Can you believe that we originally launched it in 2013?
